Urban Salisbury was created by the City of Salisbury through the Main Street program of the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development under the auspices of the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2001.We also are participating in the Tourism and Downtown Development program of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development. We are a 501c3 non-profit agency.

USI has four Main Street committees as required by Main Street Maryland. We also have others organized to deliver projects and programs unique to Salisbury. Each committee usually has six or more members. Membership is open to everyone. Our members and friends are invited to attend our monthly meetings held on the first Tuesday of the month.

The four Main Street committees are Design, Economic Development, Organization, and Promotion.  More information on these committees is located here.
