As required by Main Street Maryland, Urban Salisbury has four major committees: Design, Economic Development, Organization, and Promotion.
DESIGN The Design Committee gives local businesses and the City practical urban and architectural design advice. They help to plan Downtown re-development and they encourage property owners and tenants to rehabilitate, restore and reuse their spaces. Their professional services can be made available through the Facade Grant and Revolving Loan Fund programs. |
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT The Economic Development Committee looks for opportunities for growth, finds ways of strengthening established businesses and attracting new ones. They also work with property owners to find new uses for Downtown buildings. USI offers Façade Grants and supports the Revolving Loan Fund so Downtown businesses, property owners and tenants can develop wil they preserve and rehabilitate our built heritage. |
ORGANIZATION The Organization Committee keeps Urban Salisbury strong. These hard-working folks recruit Volunteers, increase Membership, raise Money and make the Public more aware of our Projects, Programs and Progress. |
PROMOTION The Promotion Committee capitalizes on Downtown’s assets. They help to define and manage the marketplace. They work with businesses to deliver image campaigns and unique promotional events. Urban Salisbury members and volunteers are responsible for many events including FireFest, the Community Tree Lighting and the LEGO Building contest. They advise on the production of many brochures and promotional items including the Downtown and Newtown Architectural Walking Tour brochures. They also arrange the annual W.J. Ahtes Downtown Salisbury Achievement Award Reception & Dinner. The 2011 Ahtes Award will be presented on June 10, 2011. Save The Date !! |
